MEDIUM: SWEATSHIRT

Cruise Control Contemporary is pleased to announce MEDIUM: SWEATSHIRT, a group exhibition curated by George Chen, opening October 17, 2026.

The exhibition takes the sweatshirt as its medium: a necessity, a comfort, a souvenir, a declaration of identity, and an object worn through daily life. At a moment when merchandise can function as both cultural expression and commerce, the participating artists consider what can still be made interesting within this familiar form.

Each artist has been invited to create a sweatshirt as a singular work. Together, the works move between critique and participation, sincerity and CA$H GRAB. They ask what happens when an artwork can be worn, displayed, collected, and lived with.
